Missions

For Richardson. For the World.

Our Missions Ministry at FBCR is centered on the idea of making disciples – both near and far. There are numerous ways to serve, both locally and beyond, and respond in obedience to the Great Commission. We invite anyone and everyone to join us as we impact our community for Christ.

    Dallas Cup

The Dallas Cup is the most prestigious youth soccer tournament in the United States and it is widely regarded as one of the most competitive in the world. Held every spring during Easter Week, the invitation-only Dallas Cup selects the best teams out of the hundreds of qualified applications the tournament receives each year. Each year more than 100,000 spectators watch teams from all over the world participating in intense games where only the best return home with the Dallas Cup Champion’s prize, the coveted Boot and Ball trophy.

Once again, we will host the Dallas Cup Hospitality Center. Games will be played all over the area. With our central location, we offer our Activity Center as a hub where teams can come for a meal, relax, and make connections between games.  Many years ago, the Dallas Baptist Association recognized this opportunity that the world was coming to us and we could seize it to reach these kids and their families by providing the hospitality center. Churches from the Dallas area provide meals, volunteers and share the gospel to those who come.

Our church will provide breakfast on Monday, March 25.  We need about 10 volunteers to provide & serve the meal.

If food is not your thing, but people are, you can come and be part at anytime throughout the week. We need you to visit with coaches, leaders, and parents and help us be the best hosts that we can be.

    Food For Families

On the second Saturday of each month, our Food for Families team picks up food from Crossroads Community Services, sorts it on church campus, and receives families struggling with hunger needs as they pick up their personalized, nutritionally balanced food. Normally, we provide 7 days of food for every month. Click the buttons below to volunteer or to help a family that may benefit from this ministry.

    Merry Mat Makers

A creative way to recycle plastic bags and make sleep mats for our homeless neighbors while joining a great group of encouraging prayer warriors in blessing some of the least of these. Join these ladies throughout the week to continue the process or find out what you can do at home that will help them simplify their process and be of value to others.

    Smile Stitchers

    Smile Stitchers

Smile Stitchers is a ministry that has been featured in news media more than once. This group of dedicated Stitchers comes together for fellowship and a labor of love. The labor comes in the form of little finger puppets that they sew together to give to children’s hospitals for kids that are sick and undergoing different medical treatments. These lovely little gifts help to comfort and distract the kids.

    The Network of Community Ministries

The Mission statement of The Network of Community Ministries states: “Our mission is to care, coach, and empower our neighbors in need as they seek an improved quality of life.” Over 30 years ago, our church was part of a network of churches that came together to create The Network of Community Ministries. Our job now is to support the continuation of that ministry. You can do so by volunteering your time to serve. If you want to do this, please follow the link to become a Network volunteer.

    Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children is an organization that feeds the hungry worldwide. Since 2009, they have sent billions of what they call “Mana Packs” across the globe to reach starving children. With Jesus at the center of everything they do, we are honored to partner with them to feed the world. You, your family, or your group can volunteer by following the link below. In addition, look for our annual partnership with them, where we come together with the community of Richardson in our Turn Hunger into Hope event.

    Backpack Bash

In the summer of 2018 our church began a mission. That mission was to get into the hands every student of need in RISD the supplies they needed to start off their school year. As the event grew we partnered with RISD and the community so that we could serve more students. Every year we come together to give and volunteer our time to the community of Richardson.

    The Great Commission Fund

The Great Commission Fund is an integral part of our annual mission budget. These funds support many different aspects of our mission budget for the year. Things like our institutional and direct mission partners, events,  trips that we do throughout the year, and our partnerships with Richardson ISD and The University of Texas at Dallas Baptist Student Ministry. Because this is a fund and not an offering, you can give to the GCF all year long. Each year, funds are collected for the following year. November and December are our most significant times of giving to this fund, so please do not miss this opportunity to give to the mission of our church as we seek to bring healing and wholeness to our community and beyond!

    Valley Mission Trip

    DATE: JUNE 23-29, 2024

We are excited to renew our partnership with The Valley Baptist Association and The Respite Center. The Respite Center is a temporary resting place for legal immigrants arriving through the border. This allows them to recuperate for a day or two before continuing their journey to their final destination within our country. Additionally, we will join forces with a local church to organize a Backyard Bible Club. This initiative presents a wonderful chance to support the local church in spreading the Gospel within their community.

    New York Mission Trip

    DATE: OCTOBER 14-19, 2024

On this trip, we will work primarily with CityRelief. CityRelief is an organization that helps to first show the love of Jesus and offer hope. Then they provide resources and connection to those that are marginalized. As a volunteer, you will help transform lives and, in the process, be transformed as well. You will be a beacon of hope and connection to hurting and isolated people.

Our secondary mission will be with Prayer Stations. This is an opporunity to stretch yourself by praying for strangers. I have never been to NYC, and I have been multiple times, when this ministry did not transform those who went.
