IVY LASSITER | Children's Pastor
Ivy became the Pastor for Families with Children in August of 2012, and believes children’s ministry is exactly what God put her on this earth to do.
Ivy served as an intern in First Baptist Church Richardson’s children’s ministry underneath Sweet Hopkins during each summer in college. She watched Sweet lead with passion, purpose, and humility. During those experiences she never felt more fulfilled than when she was involved in children’s ministry. She graduated from Auburn with a degree in Elementary Education, and immediately began working for a non-profit providing patient aid to children diagnosed with leukemia. While working in the corporate world, she continued to serve at First Baptist Church Richardson by leading the missions project during Vacation Bible School, teaching a Bible Fellowship each Sunday and mentoring a group of girls. At the beginning of 2012, Ivy joined the staff at First Baptist Church Richardson as Events Coordinator, and assisted with the planning of Vacation Bible School and Children’s Camp.
Ivy’s parents, Kenny and Sweet joined First Baptist Church Richardson in May of 1980, allowing both Ivy and her sister, Kendall the opportunity to be surrounded by the people in this church. She accepted Jesus as her savior with the guidance of her parents and Sylvia DeLoach (FBCR’s Children’s Minister at the time), and was baptized in the Fall of 1992 at FBCR. Ivy married Drew Lassiter (who also has spent his entire life committed to this church) in December of 2010 and have one son born September, 2013.
